The New York restaurant is closing after more than a decade in the neighborhood, according to the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce.
Restaurant, 38-12 Prince St. Between 38th and 39th avenues, it serves a variety of Shanghainese cuisine, but for years it’s been attracting audiences mainly with its signature thin-crust soup dumplings. While competitor Joe’s Shanghai is a more popular name in New York, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao may be the more popular spot among culinary enthusiasts. The wait is sometimes more than an hour for a dumpling, even years after its debut.

The closing is a blow to Downtown Flushing’s increasingly competitive dining scene, with big Asian chains and new food courts putting pressure on longtime small businesses that make up the neighborhood.
